ISLAMOPHOBIA IN CANADA
ISLAMOPHOBIA IN CANADA
Shouldn’t Canadians be entitled to an exercise of wisdom in matters of cultural conflicts?
With over 1000 cultures and every religion on the planet practiced here, it is extremely important that we avoid raising any one culture above the rest, or changing our National Culture to accommodate any one culture.
Islam, as a religion, contains many cultures with unique values and practices, just as do many other Canadian cultures. In fact, those cultures that thrive in Canada, adapt their cultures to our National Culture. This is not only a custom from our heritage, but it may soon need to be defined in our Constitution.
Many Canadians are unaware of Motion 103 and Petition E-41 concerning Islamophobia and distinctions being claimed by the Muslim communities in Canada. Motion 103 is a revision to our hate laws that would make it illegal to disagree with Sharia Laws or criticize their religion. Yet our laws are already designed to protect our universe of cultures. In fact, although Petition E-41 is a declaration of peaceful co-existence by Muslims, it also serves to recognize the Islamic terms of the Cairo Declaration of Human Rights which in itself imposes superiority over all beliefs to Islamization and criminalization of any opposition to their beliefs.
This Declaration may work for Muslim majority nations, but it certainly is offensive to non-believers in their Islamist faith and theocratic government ambitions. Canada must not be so naïve as to not defend our vast cultures from such dominion.
At question, “Are our fundamental human rights and beliefs that all people are equal before God and country worth striving for?” Canadians guarantee free speech and equal rights to men and women. These are the backbone of our National Culture.
We recognize that both of these intrinsic human values fall away in Islamist Theocracy. Most Canadian Muslims understand and respect this Canadian principle. Many even adopt these values and belong to Canadian cultures of Muslim descent, just as others have been doing for the past 150 years.
Canadians would be foolish to enable any one cultural heritage to acquire dominion over other cultural heritages.
When crises arise, quick actions can create long-term consequences. Canada has strong laws already to combat racism and prejudices whilst balancing our individual rights.
We must have the wisdom to recognize the philosophical weaknesses of “political correctness” and thus refuse to make changes to our laws for the sake of appearing to be “politically correct”.
Global dominion of Religion, Political Systems, Philosophy or Cultural Values will never have a place in Canada. We must therefore, “put our foot down” when it is the wise thing to do!
God bless Canada and Canadians.
