Why Canada Needs a New Political Party
Most Canadians don’t know that we have close to 15 registered political parties in Canada.
We are familiar with the major parties: PC’s, Liberals, NDP, PQ and Green Party. The others tend to represent a narrow focus around political issues felt by small groups. They hope that their political party can help bring about some changes that may be too controversial for the major parties. The Green Party has a narrow interest, but their focus is on a major area of concern to all Canadians. Similarly, the PQ desires to establish an independent country carved out of Canada. They do not fully represent the broad political issues and interest of all Canadians.
The PC’s, Liberals and NDP have always represented a wide overall desire to manage all political affairs across Canada. They are national in scope. The CFP, Canadian Federalist Party, is also national in its scope and national common interests.
There are many reasons why a new party is needed in Canada, and the majority of Canadians would very likely recognize and support the changes proposed by the CFP:
- No established party represents the views of the majority of all Canadians.
- No current party adheres to a long-term national plan or Vision for Canada.
- Each party assembles its constituents at election time based upon their selection of minority special interest groups. These can change from election to election.
- Instead of respecting majority interests, these parties often go against the majority by bundling minority interest legislation into omnibus bills in parliaments.
- Between elections, the internal party organization rules over the cabinet and thus democracy is circumvented as their members must follow party decisions and its power seeking strategies.
- Elections are no longer based upon local candidate credentials, but upon the emotional image created for the leader in the mass media. American style manipulation of voters’ feelings about candidates over-ride any need for substantive policy or government programme improvements.
- The fiscal management of Canada lacks integrity and substantial funds are redirected for political gain rather than for needed programmes.
- Canadians are very likely the highest taxed society in the world.
- The distribution of wealth in Canada is skewed to the very rich and market dominating corporations due to obsolete and damaging monetary, economic, financial and fiscal policies and regulations. The three major political parties have had 70 years since WWII to change this.
- For its 150 year post-colonial history, Canada has had over 60% of its economy and wealth controlled by foreigners. Foreign interests have often encroached on our independence and sovereignty.
These ten major factors clearly expose the weak leadership and vision provided by the PC’s, Liberals and NDP in Canada. They have each devolved into merely power management parties, rather than creative, responsible servants of Canadians. Their perspectives are from the top down instead of from the bottom up. Every decade sees the interests of Canadian individuals and Canadian families increasingly controlled and ruled by government institutions, international corporations and even foreign sovereign wealth funds and international regulatory organizations.
It should be apparent to all Canadians that we have lost our independence, our sovereignty and our development opportunities under the guidance of these old parties. Their era must be ended.
Canada needs a new transparent paradigm shift to take us through this century into the next. We need the Vision of the CFP backed by its commitment to Responsibility, Accountability and Integrity.
